Alex Peroni (Tas, AUS) has ventured all the way to Italy to gain invaluable karting experience from one of Europe’s top kart racing teams, Gallifa Racing. Alex, along with his family have also been joined in Italy by Stan and Julie (prop Concept Karting).
The following brief report was sent by Stan after a successful two day test.
Alex Peroni testing at Sant’ Egidio, Italy. The testing consisted of two days of intense familiarisation with the different track, engine, chassis and tyres to those used in Australia. Alex was professionally assisted by the well respected Italian race team headed by Alessandro Ottaviani who himself was for many years CRG’s official team racing driver and his most capable son Simone. So far Alex has handled the different conditions presented to him with great promise. Alex will next be travelling north to Pavia where he will have a taste of hard competition against Europe’s finest young drivers in the 60cc Mini Class.
Matthew Smith tasted success last weekend in the Rookies class at the City Of Wodonga Titles.
His elated father and chief mechanic Brett said:
Matthew got to the top step of the podium last weekend at the City Of Wodonga Titles.
After starting the day with a DNF in heat one, Matthew went on to finish second in heat two. Matthew started from grid position nine for the final and by the end of lap one, had charged all the way to third place. This set up a great battle for the next eleven laps against Jordan Boys and James Golding. On the second last corner of the race Matthew passed both Golding and Boys to take the win.
After some good races in the past few meetings it was fantastic to have another win.
Lead ballast weight is now available in 1 Kg round blocks.
Having only recently stepped up from the Junior ranks into Clubman Light, Josh Raneri did not take long to find his feet in this hotly contested class. Josh is quickly establishing himself as one of the gun pilots in Clubman Light. Racing in his CRG Black Diamond chassis, he proved so by winning on Sunday the 4th round of the Country Series at Ballarat.
